PERSONAL BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE

I was born on February 11, 1963 in the wild city of Amsterdam.

I am rich: I have two lovely sons, Gideon & Elmo. My two daughters Els and Marianne-Lotje are already young urban start-up Netizens, and are hopelessly Amsterdamned.

SIDE ACTIVITIES

In October 1995 I co-founded, and now I am chairing the Cyber Ventures foundation aiming at reconciling new media, such as Internet with environmental issues.

WRITING

I am an enthusiastic Internet columnist for Computable, and was Intermediair columnist. Writing is my greatest hobby.

Furthermore, I published a number of books and papers in specialist journals - both in  and .

October 1999-Now: co-investor in in iMerge incubator.

1997-1999, Manager Business Development in the KPN Telecom BV business unit “Internet Services”. Babies: Het Net, IP fax/IP telephony trials, formation of business consortium with Ministry of Economic Affairs for Internet2 (GigaPort), and NetCommerce & certificate services.

1995-1997: senior consultant and project manager for the Strategy & Business Development department of KPN Telecom BV, focussing on international multimedia and internet developments.

1992-1995: project leader at KPN Research with regard to multimedia projects. E.g., from April 1992 to March 1993 I was task leader within the IMS1 EURESCOM project, specifying a pan-European multimedia teleservice.

1989-1992: system analyst for Informatics Project Management in Hoofddorp, specialised in travel agency automation. To broaden my scope, I joined Cap Gemini Pandata/Multimedia Systems in 1990 and participated as a system programmer and information analyst in the development of OCTOPUS - the criminal investigation system of the Dutch police's criminal investigation departments.

December 18, 1998: LIVE oration as Professor eBusiness/Multimedia at the Open University Netherlands. Titled: The InterVersity as a Web Assisted Knowledge Pub for the Higher Educated.

1998-2004:  part-time professor multimedia at the Open University Netherlands in Heerlen, department Computer Science. I want to set up an international InterVersity. A first step is a Course Shop for the OUN.

1994-1998: Ph.D. research at Delft University of Technology focussing on the business viability of multimedia marketing systems.

   
   

1989: postdoctoral course in Information Analysis and Policy at the Academy of Informatics/University of Utrecht.

1984-1987: This after a study at the Faculty of Psychology at the Universiteit of Amsterdam, with special interest in Social Science Informatics.

1975-1981: Montessori Lyceum Amsterdam
